Armageddon Car

how many of you bought a nice sedan, suv, or even a minivan back in the days that you described as your "armageddon car" that you would care for and it would last until the end arrived?.

i was driving a 1974 plymouth volare wagon in 1992 when i managed to get an 8-year old buick century.

it was low mileage and had a very luxurious interior.

Armageddon Car? No but I got an Armageddon education.

Fortunately I rectified that later in life and can provide for my family comfortably.

if a change in the blood policy happens, who will be more upset, jws or former jws?

i suspect the latter.

when the beard thing went down, jw's seem to immediately embrace it, whereas many former jw's have been brooding about it.. did it take away a pet gripe we had?.

As an alternative twisted perspective, although I abandoned the religion of my childhood almost 15 years ago, convinced it was a fraud, I have secretly held out hope that I was wrong.

A small secret part of me wanted to see this disgusted unjust and inhumane world burnt to a crisp, even if for a few seconds before I went with it.

The fraud is more evident every day though. So even though I despise the religion, it hurts to know beyond a doubt that there truly is no hope. I look at the world we are leaving our kids and I go to pieces.

Moving on in a new chapter

moving on is the hardest thing anyone has to cope with.. i have officially left the org.

and now it feels my family have been waiting to do this for a long time, officially shunning me, even though they were practically doing this whilst i was still in.. it feels like i've accomplished a victory and at the same time i feel guilty i was tangled up in communication with someone who "hid who they were" claiming to leak information from bethel.

i got the call from the man who i thought i worked with.

Prediction: no more changes for a long while

i’ve noticed a pattern where things don’t go the way i expect them to go and/or whenever i realise there is a trend and, i mentally adjust for the idea that the trend will continue, the trend stops in its tracks.

so on that basis, and given many people, including myself, and active jws, have been asking ‘what changes will the governing body make next?’ perhaps the (disappointing) answer is: ‘nothing much for a while to come’.

maybe they’ve made the changes they want for now, and will wait a while and see how it’s received.

Just wonder how anyone who has been in this org for 20+ years can have ANY respect for it any more... How does this org still maintain any credibility whatsoever

Stress of Going to a Summer Convention

spotted this picture on a friend's page, he was highlighting the mental health issue.

however,we thought the magazine on stress was deliberately placed in the summer months because for any jw going to a convention, paying high season hotel rates for themselves or their whole family to stay near the convention centre, fighting coworkers and managers to get the time off work, travelling expenses, buying their own meals for the family, buying new shiny suits and dresses to impress (particularly if you have teenage girls who are looking for their prince), and more.... by the time they come home again and straight away back to work, their nerves will be so frazzled that their stress levels will have sky rocketed!.

We were fortunate to have conventions within driving distance of home for many years.

Then came the debacle "International Conventions" and we were directed to travel to Detroit MI.

I remember expressing concerns over incomplete directions provided at meetings leading up. When I would ask, "What should we do if X happens?" The response from the Elders was invariably "Trust that Jeh will take care of us."

The convention was a bungled logistical nightmare. Friday We waited over an hour for shuttle from stadium to our parked vehicle. My elderly diabetic mother nearly passed out from lack of evening meal. Trust, HA
